Meet the person behind Stuarthome CKCS...


Kathryn Yonkers is current adjunct university professor teaching healthcare research as she works in the public health field. Formerly, she has taught  as a full time professor at six universities and five colleges. Kathy is currently an emergency preparedness and bioterrorism coordinator (EPC). In additon, Kathryn has served as a project director for various public health initiatives. Moreover, Kathy background includes positions as a university professor, college educator, healthcare consultant, trainer, clinician, grant writer and continuing education presenter.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a beloved by Kathryn. She uses her background and achievements to protect, promote and serve the breed at the local, national and international level. Her interest is in assisting people with disabilities and support Cavaliers as wonderful therapy dogs. 

On the national level, Kathryn is a voting member of the AKC Parent Club, The American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club in which she serves as a member of the health committee and have served as the ACKCSC research liaison to the AKC Canine Health Foundation. Ms. Yonkers served as a Trustee with the ACKCS Charitable Trust for 10 years, and she is a Founding Partner of the ACKCS Charitable Trust. The ACKCS Charitable Trust has funded over one quarter million dollars in health research. Kathy serves on the ACKCSC Health Committee. While serving in those positions, she was involved with the first international ACKCSC Breed Survey; this landmark survey was conducted by Dr. Glickman of Purdue University. On the local level, Kathryn served as the founding President of the CKCSC of Great Kalamazoo - Southwest Michigan (renamed as the Great Lakes CKCSC, Inc.) during its three years of development. She brought the club to licensure and is currently serving as the President of Great Lakes CKCS club
